2.5 minutes doctor consultation

Have been sick for the past few days. Geez... First, started with a sore throat. Then started coughing. After that felt feverish, with aches all over the body especially the muscles & joints. Then I just had to complete the package with a few sneezes! Can you imagine?!

Hubby brought me to the doctor in Pasir Ris on Thursday. My usual GP was not in. In her place was this stern-looking male doctor. There were only 2 more patients ahead of me, and surprisingly, the waiting time was no more than 10 minutes (very rare cos i usually wait at least 10 mins per patient).

As soon as my name was called, I knocked on the door and went in. The doctor didn't even turn to look at me. he just kept staring at my medical record and asked me what's wrong. I gave a quick run-thru about my symptoms, and then he took the stethoscope to his ears and began to listen to my breathing, checked my throat and took my temperature. After that, he just started making notes on my medical record card, and wrote me a medical leave without further asking or comments and sent me out!

I was very very puzzled. I wonder if he was rushing for lunch because I realised that it was almost 12.30pm... I mean, I cannot doubt his professionalism because he is THE doctor after-all. But at least, he must show a bit more respect and concern for the patient he's seeing... My entire consultation with him lasted no more than 3 minutes! In fact, waiting for my medicine took longer than having been seen by the doctor!

Anyway, I was really quite sick that day. Went straight home, took my medicine and dropped in bed without waking until it was past 9pm! I actually woke up feeling very very very hungry! (What do you expect? Didn't eat anything the whole day except my medicines!)

OK, got to go take my medicines now and catch some sleep...
