Ah Long Pte Ltd Gala Premiere

Was invited to the Gala Premiere of Director Jack Neo's Ah Long Pte Ltd "老师嫁老大" yesterday 30 Jan 2008 @ GV Vivo City. Needless to say, it was a star-studded event, with a very unique opening.

The invite came as a "wedding invitation" card.

The invitation to the gala cocktail reception

Even had the bride and the groom's name on it.

My "ticket" to the movie

The main cast Mark & Fann "marched-in" triad-style with "parang-of-honour", and in their bridal suit & gown. Very creative theme.

Met a couple of friends there, including Boris & Michelle.

The show itself was very different from the draft cut which I had watched earlier last year. I know many scenes were edited, but still the movie was packed with a lot of humour. No doubt there were some seriously 无理头 jokes (what do you expect? It's a comedy) but there were also a lot of worthy humour that will tickle you to bits. And also there was no letting go of some political jokes. But on the serious note, other than just humour, there were also some scenes that would put a thought to your mind. I personally enjoy Mark's performance in the movie. He's always portraying some Ah Beng, but this time round, his portrayal of a sissy dance instructor was just simply hilarious.

The movie is presented un-dubbed in mainly Mandarin, Hokkien & Cantonese. And the humour is what they say "black comedy". Although there are some "expected" scenes, most are still very funny, and of course there's the much talked about Fann's rear view in the buff.

In cinemas from 07 Feb 2008 (but midnight screenings from 01 Feb 2008). Go catch it with your family.

Just musing over muses

说了又不听

听了又不懂

不懂又不问

问了又不做

做了又做错

错了又不认

认了又不改

改了又不服

不服又不说

I read the above from a note on Michelle's table yesterday. And it just kept going thru my head. Over and over and over again. I felt that it really made sense in some cases. Do we call them stubborn or obstinate or inflexible? How many of you out there have encountered people who are like that?

Blueberry Muffin Recipe

OK, OK, I know, I know. The muffins look fantastic. And you guys are flooding my mail box for the recipe. Yeah, I'm gonna start collecting royalties! Muahahahaha... Just kidding. But here you go:

Ingredients:

1 pkt of muffin mix (you can buy them at most supermarkets)
3/4 cup milk (I used low fat milk)
1/4 cup vegetable oil (I used olive oil)
2 eggs
3/4 cup of blueberries (You can use fresh or canned, I used the canned ones)

Method:

1. Pre-heat oven to 400ºF. Put 12 paper baking cup into each muffin pan-cup, or if you are not using the paper cups, then grease the bottoms of the muffin pan-cup.

2. Mix all the ingredients except the blueberries just until until well blended. Then gently stir in the blueberries. Use a ice cream scoop or a rounded spoon, divide the batter evenly into the cups.

3. Bake for abt 15 mins or until golden brown.

Walah... Royal Blueberry muffins should now be served with a cup of earl grey tea!

A dinner held at Flutes @ the Fort

Oh my goodness! Time flies really fast. It's now middle of January, and I realised that I have soooo many pictures from last year yet to be posted! And I'm really sorry for my lack of posts here recently because I have been really busy since December, with so much work & events, and my vacation and other things happening all at the same time. Geez, I could barely breathe...

Anyway, I have here some pictures from a dinner we had at FLUTES @ THE FORT early December. The food was really good, and we had lots of fun. I didn't bring my camera, so pics courtesy of Tweetie & Michelle.

Menu of what we ate

Tuna Tataki

Sauteed Scallops

Lemon Sorbet

Grilled Sirloin Steak

Chocolate Praline Log Cake

Me enjoying a Merlot before I attack the dessert!

Me & Michelle (with a Grinch in the background!)

Pretty girls Khim & Mei Chin

Michelle with her dessert wine, Chateu Les Justice

Hmm... I look like a wine promoter!!!

OK, So there was a vintage Red pot box just outside of the restaurant. And me & Michelle decided to cam-whore... (^o^)

After dinner, the very homely people decided to just go home, Grinch Tweetie probably had the intention to party after that just didn't quite make it due to "HIGHLY" unforeseen circumstances. So that left Pooh Bear, Marta, Michelle & myself to head down to Clarke Quay. And whilst we were across the road from Clarke Quay's Whampoa Garden, Pooh Bear got very excited seeing the GMAX horizontal bungee thingy. We headed there and found out they had a new ride, the GX5. For those of you who don't know what that is, it looks like this...

** Pic courtesy of ST.

Michelle & me were thinking "NO, NO, NO" only to find out Pooh Bear just bought tickets for all of us!!! Now, do remember that we just had our dinner (and quite a fair bit of wine!) And we were headed for the high platform to ride on the damn swing thing... SHIT!

Marta was laughing excitedly and Pooh Bear was edging us on to it, but both Michelle & me were like freaking out already. We didn't quite have a choice as we were "ushered" up onto the monster and buckled up. We were then briefed safety instructions, but none of what those boys were saying registered in my brains. And after 10 mins of buckling up and safety talk, we were hoisted up like 42 freaking meters at a 45 degree angle into the air. I swore at that time my heart was about to stop beating... I was really freaking out!!! Not funny lor...

At the highest point, we were dangling there for like 20 seconds before Pooh Bear had the honour of pulling the cable to release the swing. The next thing I knew, we were all "free-falling" from up there, and being propelled 100 freaking meters across the river. It was HORRENDOUS! Not funny at that time. I literally felt like one had just jumped off a building to commit suicide... After some 3 full swings, or at least till the swing lost momentum, we were lowered to safety. My legs felt like jelly... Michelle said she almost fainted. But the good thing was, the 4 of us managed to keep our food in our tummies!

Geez... It was a really scary experience. But I'm glad we took that ride. because I don't think I'll ever want to go up on it, ever again!!!

After that, we desperately need a drink. We wondered around Clarke Quay for a while (because we were still shaking from the ride) and decided to hop into FASHION BAR for a while.

I didn't quite like the atmosphere at FASHION BAR and there was nothing much happening unfortunately, so we moved on to ONE NIGHT STAND after 1 drink. The live band at ONS was more interesting and at least Marta & Pooh Bear was dancing their asses off! Hehehe...

**P/S: Thank you all for your festive greetings and well-wishes. I'm sorry I haven't been replying my shout-box. But do stay here with me. I'll be loading more pics from my vacation, as well as visits from buddies all over Asia soon. Cheers!

***P/P/S: To all my muffin lovers out there, sorry, royal muffins were far too delicious to have survived till now. All wiped out before I could say Bon Apetit!

Princess Carol's Blueberry Muffins

On this lazy Saturday afternoon, yours truly just had fill the royal kitchen with mouth-watering aroma. I decided to bake some muffins. Blueberry muffins to be exact. Yep. I bake. I can bake. And I make really beautiful cakes and muffins.

So I started with some low fat milk, olive oil (it's healthier, i think), some eggs, a bag of muffin mix, and a can of BLUEBERRIES!

Of course I had to prepare about 12 paper cups for the muffins. Then, I spent some half an hour mixing and blending all the ingredients together, making a nice smooth batter. The blueberries were added last. After that, I spooned the mixture into the cups and put them in the oven.

15 minutes later...

Beautiful mouth-watering muffins!

See, beautiful right? Told you I can bake! And they are not just looking good. They taste good too! Anybody wants some? Hehehehehe.....
